Sustainability Policy

Sustainability is a central element in IGB's corporate strategy. For this reason, it offers solutions to the challenges posed by climate change, with respect for biodiversity and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

In order to achieve continuous improvement of environmental performance, manage and reduce the impact of business activities on the surrounding environment, IGB is committed to complying with current environmental laws at all administrative levels and in all production sectors.

For this reason, IGB has always been committed to allocating adequate human and financial resources to the full implementation and dissemination of this policy, as well as to achieving the environmental objectives and programs necessary to apply it.

In all its facilities, IGB is formally committed to preventing pollution and safeguarding the environment through:

  • the systematic assessment of the environmental impact of every activity carried out internally, also to prevent and/or manage emergency situations
  • the environmental consideration of all processes
  • the maintenance of the ISO 14001 environmental certification system

The direction of IGB's research and development is constantly oriented towards the study of new paper products that can reduce or eliminate the use of plastic or energy in the packaging industry.

Furthermore, IGB’s facilities are responsible for the proper disposal of waste and its appropriate destination; any pollutant emissions into the atmosphere, soil and water will be monitored and, where possible, reduced.

IGB pays close attention to the origin of the materials used in its processes. For this reason, it is FSC certified and promotes the use of FSC-certified materials among its customers.

Sustainable Procurement

IGB promotes responsible sourcing policies and is committed to integrating environmental and social criteria into its purchasing processes. In particular:

  • it favors suppliers who adopt certified management systems and practices that respect the environment and workers' rights
  • it encourages the purchase of products and services with a reduced environmental impact, with particular attention to those that are reusable, recycled or from renewable sources
  • it requires partner organizations to purchase products and services only when strictly necessary and to carefully evaluate the life cycle of purchased goods
  • it encourages the reduction of natural resource consumption and promotes a transparent, traceable and sustainable supply chain.
